If Your Dream Is Worth Something It Will Certainly Cost You Something

She mentioned she had been at the office since 4:20 a.m. She wasn’t trying to impress me. She went in early so she could spend time with her kids after school. She gets over a million page views a month.

I was just finishing lunch and she had already put in an eight hour work day.

How can I get what I want?
A few times a week someone asks me how to become successfully self-employed. From now on my answer is going to be, “Be like my friend who puts in an eight hour work day before I’m done with my lunch.”

Rules for important things

  • What is important we give our time to.
  • What we want we pursue.
  • What we are willing to pay for we invest in.

Are you willing to pay the price?
It may not mean getting up at 4 a.m. but pursuing success is going to cost you something. Your goal may be self-employment, a great marriage or a million dollars in the bank. Whatever the goal is it will cost you something if it’s worth anything.

There’s good ouch and bad ouch.
Bad ouch is a punch in the face. That causes you to lose your teeth.
Good ouch is the dentist. That helps you keep your teeth.

Embrace the good ouch because the result is you’re better than when you started.

Right on Andy. There’s a great Chris Guillebeau quote that I go back to often – “To achieve something of significance you have to give up things of inconsequence.” I’m getting better at saying “no” to things that add no value. Thanks for the reminder. Much love.

Now, I’m the curious one who wants to know who this woman was who gets over 1 million views on her website per day.

    1. I’m completely awestruck/impressed

    2. That many views would make me fly out of bed at 4 a.m. as well.

Are you able to disclose? :)

Thanks Andy. I was up at 3:50 this morning to grind it out before going to work. I just read this and it encouraged me. Have a blessed day!
