Your Three Options For Dealing With Disappointment

If you’re doing work that matters then you’re going to experience disappointment. You can dwell on it, default to it, or drive by it.

Dwelling keeps you stuck in self-pity and doesn’t improve anything.

Defaulting to it is a surrender. It’s pessimism. It’s misery.

Driving by happens when we acknowledge it, learn from it, and then keep going on the road to achievement.

What Should I Buy Next? How To Hide From Real Work

What program do you use for writing?
What kind of mic do you have for podcasting?
What do you find images for your blog posts?
Where do you host your blog?
What do you use to host webinars?
What does your swipe copy say?
What day do you close cart?
What are your price points?
What’s your refund policy?
Where do you host your course?

They are all equipment questions. Anyone with money can buy equipment.

Getting ready is the popular way to avoid doing the actual work.

Getting equipment isn’t scary, it’s hiding from real work.

Getting ready doesn’t put you at risk for rejection. No one will tell you to stop equipping yourself. Equipment is a path others have taken. You look and feel so busy preparing but you’re not any closer to shipping.

Until you can be rejected, you’re nowhere near the path to clarity.

Stop equipping yourself. You’re just stalling.

You're Not Alone

There’s a set of identical triplets that live down the street. You would think identical triplets are a lot alike, but the more time I spend with them (they’re friends with my kids) the more I see their differences.

Your mom was right when she said you’re like a snowflake, unique in so many ways.

You are unique but your feelings are not. Your feelings are universal, especially your fears.

Watch this video and tell me if you have the same feelings as the people I describe.

Difficult or Doable?

“Don’t be anxious about anything” is a broad command. The point is that where we start our thinking matters. If you start a task telling yourself “It’s difficult” then it probably will be.

Start With “It’s doable.”

When you start with “It’s doable” you’ve got an advantage. You have belief, and belief is invisible momentum for any action we’re starting.

What’s difficult in your present life?

What do you think will be difficult in your future?

Don’t be anxious. It’s doable.

Start there and you’ve already made progress.
