Habits have more power than we give them credit for. The problem with a habit is that while we do it we aren’t thinking. That’s good if your habit is healthy but bad if you’re missing a chance to grow. I drive to work and it takes less than ten minutes. Every day I break my route habit. That sounds uncomfortable but it’s more like stretching after you wake up from a great nap. It’s discomfort that results in great comfort.

I never drive the same way to work. When I drive the “normal route” I go from my front door to my office desk without much thought. When I choose to drive a different route I get to make choices. Every intersection is a choice. Those choices give me new views and afford me the gift of paying attention. It sounds small doesn’t it? Small things create big changes if you’re open to them.
How are you going to drive to work tomorrow?
If it’s not your commute what can you do differently today?
Be ready for your life to change, slowly and beautifully.
