Don't post two blog posts on the same day (post #2 for March 22, 2011)

Some rules:

Everything has to have strategy behind it.
Get your keywords right.
Use the Thesis theme, it’s better for SEO.
Don’t send your newsletter on Monday mornings.
Offer something free to get people to sign up for your newsletter.
Use a Mac.
Don’t post twice in one day on your blog.

There are all these rules that we’re supposed to follow if we want to be successful. The problem with the rules is that even the rule breakers, the category makers, even they follow some rules. Today you should break a rule. The reason you shouldn’t post twice on your blog in one day is because your last post won’t get read as much. It’ll get buried. But what if I write on my site because my heart tells me to? What if I write because I want to help people, not because I want to do it in the most optimized way? What if we all stop asking for permission and following rules that some other person made up (even if they’re true)?

What if you posted two blog posts today? It might be two more posts than you wrote all last week. According to my calculator that’s an improvement, even if it breaks a rule. Do stuff because you want to do it and stop seeking permission. People who ask for permission don’t really believe in what they’re doing.
