This weekend I attended Ray Edward’s Copywriting Academy Live. It’s an event born out of his Copywriting Academy. It was practical, professional, and impactful. Using Ray’s example you too can get people from all over the world to come listen to you speak. Here’s what you have to do.
Master your craft
Ray has been working on copy for 30 years. He’s written hundreds of thousands of words of copy for hundreds if not thousands of clients.
The most important part of making a great living at something is mastering your craft and Ray’s done that.
Leverage your Time
Ray has books and digital courses, most notably his CopyWriting Academy, that allow him to leverage his time. He’s structured his business to have the most impact because he understands how to use technology to multiply himself. There were a few hundred attendees at the event. That’s 200 people he can impact at the same time.
Have High Integrity
It’s easy to manipulate people with copywriting. Some people teach deceptive practices. Ray teaches about those practices for the sole purpose of calling them out as unacceptable. Ray is like martial arts instructor who teaches you things you could use to harm people but reminds you that you should use your powers for good instead of evil.
Be Consistent
He’s been publishing to his blog for years and produces a weekly podcast. He’s faced some major medical setbacks but continues to generously produce content for his followers.
Be Teachable
I’ve been to three of Ray’s events, and this one was by far the most well-organized, run, and attended. It packed the most impact as well. But, there were issues. One was the question and answer part of the event. At the beginning of the event, it took too long and created more frustration and confusion than help for the attendees. By the end of the event, they had made an adjustment and streamlined the process.
Ray spoke about this from the stage, admitting they had done a poor job at the beginning of the event with that aspect. That’s humility. That’s being teachable. That’s Ray.
Be Memorable
This is where I talk about Ray Edward’s faith. He’s a Christian. He makes it clear at his events that he will not avoid talking about his faith, and he doesn’t expect anyone to believe what he believes. Ray is memorable because he’s the best part of the Christian faith, the part Jesus modeled when he treated everyone the same.
As a fellow Christian who is still growing his audience, Ray serves as a model for how to include your faith in your business without excluding those who don’t share it.
My Friend
Maybe Ray’s getting this glowing review because he’s a generous friend that has extended kindness to me privately on many occasions or maybe everything I said above, is true. I hope you’ll subscribe to everything Ray produces and get every book and program he creates to see if I’m right.
