Think of something you want to try but might not work.
The conversation you’ve been avoiding with your spouse, neighbor, or mother-in-law
Asking for a raise
Starting your book
Getting a different hairstyle
Going to counseling
There are risks you can take that don’t require you to quit your job or climb a mountain in a foreign land. Risks shake you up. They remind you that life is usually boring, which is safe but unsatisfying.
My favorite author, Seth Godin, likes to say, “It might work. It might not work.”
The Worst Case Scenario
If (fill in your risk here) doesn’t work you’re not going to lose your house, your job, your spouse, or a limb.
The worst case scenario is some lost time and your pride.
What you’re afraid of hurting is your pride.
Feeling foolish won’t kill you.
Find a risk and take it.
It might work. It might not work.
Life is boring otherwise, and you only get one.
