The Best Method For Choosing Webinar Topics

I’ll soon be releasing a revised/new product that will help content creators be more organized and create more content.

It’s vital to teach on webinar topics my list is interested in so a few days ago I sent out a survey. I asked which webinar topics they wanted to learn more about.

The Detailed Results

I always love it when people break down their process (Bryan Harris does this better than anyone) so I’m breaking down my process so you can learn from it.

Of the roughly 4,200 emails I sent out 702 people click on the link to the survey. I made it clear that I would follow up with them about the free classes I’m teaching if they click on the link. I don’t need them to fill out the survey because I already have their email address in my system.

ConvertKit, my email provider of choice, allows me to tag each person who clicked on that link so I can follow up with them. I’ve combined a few other tags I have in my list into a segment. That segment is full of people who have downloaded ebooks or attended webinars related to content creation so I know they’re interested in the topic I’m teaching on.

1,462 people out of my list of 4,170 are interested in content creation based on the segment I’ve compiled (again, a segment is a group of tagged members of my list). That means 65% of my list isn’t interested in this topic thus far, but I could add more if I tried to reach out to them specifically, which I can easily do in ConverKit.

qualified leads

319 people submitted answers to my survey, including ten people who were not on my email list but wanted to be added. Somehow they found their way to my blog post and wanted me to to add them to my list.

Ten people are only .002% of my list, but that’s not I view those ten people. They are 10 people who are highly qualified leads that are very interested in this topic. They took a lot of time to find my post, enter their email and choose the webinar topics they wanted me to teach on.

The first choice for me to teach on is “The Seven Proven Strategies For Getting People To Pay Attention To Your Writing”. What’s very interesting is that it was the LAST option on the list. I had assumed the order would weight the answers, and the top three would have higher vote totals because people wouldn’t want to read through the whole list.

This shows me that voters thought through their choices, which is awesome.

The First Place Topic

That topic got 97 first place votes and 206 total votes. The most first place votes and the most total votes.

Seven Prove Strategies For Getting People To Pay Attention To Your Writing

The Second Place Topic

The second class you voted for was “The Fastest Method For Writing Better Content.” It received 73 first place votes and 173 total. Both totals are in second place.

I’m really glad the totals worked the way they did. Next time I’ll likely just have voters choose two options. It will show greater differences in vote totals and increase the number of people completing the survey.

Now it’s time to build those classes. That’s the easy part because I know what people want to learn about. So what are you going to teach your tribe about?

Start by asking them.
