You don't need more tools

Make your life easier, get every post sent to your inbox by clicking here.

You don’t need more shortcuts.
You don’t need more tips.
You don’t need more Seth Godin posts.
You don’t need a Mac.

  • Buffer
  • Tweetbot
  • MarsEdit
  • Blogsy
  • Evernote
  • MindMeister
  • ByWord
  • Scrivener
  • OmmWriter
  • Freedom

These are all tools you can use to create content and share it with the world. You don’t need any more of them. I’ve paid for almost all of them and I still use many. The tools are only as helpful as you are dedicated. Tweet That

Don’t buy what Seth uses
Seth Godin uses an obscure word processing program called Nisus! to write his daily blog posts. I didn’t create a link for Nisus! because you’ll go look at it like I did and think to yourself, “That’s what I need to be a better writer.” That’s just dumb and I thought it. Tools help but they aren’t doing the work.

You don’t need more tools. You can write without the powerful sorting features of Scrivener. You can create words that change lives without the distraction free writing environment that ByWord offers. You can create great blog posts without buying Blogsy for your iPad. I use each of those tools for the reasons I mentioned but the tools DO NOT MATTER. They help but they are not the tipping point.

The tipping point
The tipping point is your idea becoming real. Ideas don’t have flesh. My Kindle book has made over $2,500 as of today in a little over 20 days. Maybe I’m bragging or maybe I want you to believe me. I’ve been distracted for far too long by the tools. Tools don’t make you money or help the world, you using them does. My book was an idea and now that idea is going to increase my bank account and allow my family to call Dave Ramsey and scream “We’re debt free!”.

Links to the tools
Since you’re curious about the programs mentioned above I’ll add links to them below but remember that they have no power. You have all the power. You can create great ideas and share them with the world. It’s not about the tools.

Post where Seth talks about how he writes via CopyBlogger

Most of the links in this post are affiliate links so if you buy something after clicking on them I make money and feed my kids. Thanks for that.
